Medical knowledge can be loosely placed into two categories - the academic and the clinical. In the setting of the hospital, a great doctor can forget some academic knowledge and still be a good clinician. On exams, a student can do extremely well and yet lack clinical intellect. Todays USMLE exams strive to combine the two so that todays students are clinically oriented earlier. Facts are most often learned efficiently through repetition and self-testing whereas clinical knowledge is often learned by experiences in the hospital. However, without the proper academic knowledge, a student cannot progress and learn from the clinical setting as effectively. This website is designed to quiz your academic knowledge and these flashcards are free to use. Please flash responsibly ;)
